Hera’s Sustainability Principles

Our goal with the Earth Beat Festival is to create an environment that offers community connection and education on how we can all make shifts in our lifestyle to leave a smaller micro (and in turn, macro) footprint on the earth. We plan to pull from all of our personal resources and gather Kansas City’s most amazing movers and shakers who integrate sustainable and holistic practices into their own businesses, together to create a day of “Waste-less” celebration of the Earth and its gift to all of us.

It is our goal to leave the most minimum environmental impact as possible during this event and show the community that it is possible. We understand that the term “Zero Waste” can feel scary and unattainable to someone just learning about sustainability. This is why we’ve chosen to use “Waste-less” as our motto for the festival. To create an overall atmosphere that feels welcoming and encouraging for our attendees to join this movement, we ask that all vendors read through and adhere to the general sustainability principles listed below:

  1. Onsite, there will be provided recycle, compost and Ripple Glass bins. As vendors, we ask that if you need to dispose of something, please stop by one of these first before heading to a trash bin.

  2. We will have water refill stations onsite. Please bring your reusable water bottles and utilize this feature!

  3. We ask that all vendors understand and adhere to the “Leave No Trace” policy. Pack it in, pack it out and leave your spot more beautiful than you found it.

  4. If your booth needs to use any type of single-use products (ie:plates, cups, cup lids, silverware, shopping bags for products) we ask that these all be plastic free and biodegradable. If you need suggestions on where to buy these products from, please email hera.community.kc@gmail.com and we will send you a link to our favorite resource lists.

  5. We ask that all vendors embody the principles “Civic Responsibility” and “Community Participation”. This means, if you see that a neighboring vendor needs some help, offer your hand! If you notice a piece of trash on the ground, pick it up! This sets a really nice tone and example for our attendees to do the same.

Before your sending in your application, please locate the section your business falls into below and read over the principles of alignment for that category. You’re not required to check every single box (besides NO plastic! xoxo) but we most certainly want you to have alignment with our vision.
